Mr Morgan Bayley is a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon at Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea, with his NHS practice at Swansea Bay University Health Board. Appointed as a consultant in February 2021, he subspecialises in knee surgery with a particular passion for joint preservation, and is one of the younger generation of knee specialists at Sancta Maria bringing the latest techniques in ligament reconstruction, cartilage preservation and patellofemoral surgery to private patients in South Wales.

Mr Bayley offers private consultations and surgery for the full range of knee conditions at Sancta Maria Hospital. His joint preservation practice covers ACL reconstruction, complex multi-ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair and surgery, patellofemoral surgery including trochleoplasty and tibial tubercle osteotomy for instability, cartilage surgery, and osteotomy for malalignment. He also performs all forms of knee replacement including total knee replacement, unicompartmental (partial) knee replacement and patellofemoral replacement.

Fellowship Training

Mr Bayley undertook two dedicated fellowships on completion of his specialist training: a Trauma Fellowship at the University Hospital of Wales, developing expertise in complex lower limb trauma, and a Knee Fellowship at the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit, one of the UK’s foremost centres for knee surgery and reconstruction.

Training and Background

Mr Bayley qualified from Cardiff University in 2008 and completed his Specialty Training in Trauma and Orthopaedics on the Welsh Rotation. He completed an MSc in Trauma Surgery in 2017, writing a dissertation focused on complex knee injuries, before his fellowship appointments and subsequent consultant post in Swansea.

Research

Mr Bayley has an active research interest in knee and trauma surgery, with published work in peer-reviewed journals.
