Joint Infection Expertise
Mr Mohammed is Clinical Lead for Joint Infection at Swansea Bay University Health Board, overseeing the diagnosis and management of infected hip and knee replacements across the health board. This is one of the most complex areas of orthopaedic surgery, requiring specialist expertise in both the removal of failed implants and the staged reconstruction of the joint. His leadership role in this area reflects his standing as one of the most experienced revision arthroplasty surgeons in South Wales.
Training and Background
Mr Mohammed completed his medical training before undertaking surgical training posts in London and Essex, followed by orthopaedic surgical training in the East of England (Basildon) from 2007. He completed a fellowship in lower-limb arthroplasty surgery in Swansea in 2013, gaining extensive experience in primary and revision hip and knee replacement, dysplastic hip surgery, complex acetabular reconstruction, and the management of joint infection. He was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Swansea Bay University Health Board in March 2014.
Research and Publications
Mr Mohammed has presented at national and international orthopaedic conferences on the results and techniques of arthroplasty surgery and has published in the international literature on joint replacement surgery.
