Mr Andrew Davies is a Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon at Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea, with over 18 years of consultant experience. He is a subspecialist knee surgeon who qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, in 1995 and was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Swansea in 2006. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed papers on knee surgery with over 1,250 citations, and is a founder member of the British Patello-Femoral Society.

Fellowship Training
Mr Davies undertook fellowship training in Lyon, France with Professor Philippe Neyret, one of Europe’s foremost knee surgeons, and in Canberra, Australia with Dr Peter Morris and Dr Michael Gillespie. These fellowships gave him advanced training in arthroplasty and complex knee reconstruction, and a breadth of international surgical experience that he brings to his practice at Sancta Maria.
Research and Publications
Mr Davies has published over 20 papers in academic journals with over 1,250 citations of his work by other authors. His MD thesis at Bristol University investigated the effects of wear debris from orthopaedic implants. He was awarded a Royal College of Surgeons Research Training Fellowship in 2002 and received a Best Poster award at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons meeting in New Orleans in 2002. He regularly presents his research at national and international orthopaedic meetings.
