Training and Background

Mr Russell qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1988 and completed his basic surgical training during a short service commission in the British Army. He undertook higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics on the All Wales Rotation, which included a specialist fellowship in hand and wrist surgery at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, one of the UK’s leading hand surgery centres. He was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Morriston Hospital in 2002.

Teaching and Education

Mr Russell is actively involved in surgical education, regularly organising, running and teaching on national and international courses for both consultants and trainees in trauma and orthopaedic surgery.
