Mr Aso Mohammad was appointed as a consultant Orthopaedic surgeon by the Swansea Bay University Health Board, Swansea in March 2014 and is based at Morriston and Neath Port Talbot Hospital. After completing his medical training, he progressed to house officer and senior house officer surgical training posts in London and Essex teaching hospitals in 2002, Orthopaedic surgical training in East of England (Basildon) in 2007 and then fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty surgery in Swansea, Wales in 2013. Mr Mohammed has taken the role of clinical lead for joint infection at Swansea Bay.
During this fellowship post Mr Mohammad gained extensive experience in contemporary management techniques for all hip and knee conditions including treatment of adult hips, dysplastic hips, revision surgery for those hips and knees that have become loose including those that fail as a result of infection and reconstruction techniques for damaged acetabulum and knee revision surgery. His clinical interest include treatment of degenerative joint condition including knee arthroscopy and primary joint replacement surgery of hips and knees, and revision surgery for failed hip and knee replacements. Mr Mohammed has been involved in national and international major conferences giving lectures and presentation on the results and techniques of arthroplasty surgery, and has published in the international literature on joint replacement and other topics.
