Mr Alun John is a native of Llandeilo and a welsh speaker. He attended the Medical School of St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. His orthopaedic training was undertaken in Wales and Australia.

Since being appointed as a consultant in Cardiff University Hospitals twenty yeas ago Alun has specialised in hip replacement surgery and now performs up to 300 hundred primary and revision hip replacement operations a year. Alun has therefore gained considerable experience in the treatment of people with arthritic hips who need primary and revision (re-do) hip replacement surgery. Alun has helped several thousand people with disabling hip pain return to normal activities.

Mr John will try to understand how your hip is affecting you and offer a solution to improve your problems. He will discuss all options with you to help you come to the best decision for you. Alun’s aim is to make sure that you understand his opinion clearly before you leave the consulting room. He understands that the decision to undergo an operation can be difficult and that you may need time to discuss your options in detail.
