Tom is a Consultant Plastic,
Reconstructive and Sarcoma Surgeon with an NHS practice based at Morriston
Hospital, Swansea. He is MDT lead of the Welsh Sarcoma Service and Chairs the
Welsh Sarcoma Advisory Group. He is a Senior Lecturer at Swansea University
involved in delivery of the Graduate Entry Medical Degree course.
He is a
strong advocate of education in Sarcoma and is leading the British Sarcoma
Groups bid for formal Sarcoma TIGs. He currently hosts one of the few UK
Sarcoma Fellowships combining with his skin cancer colleagues to deliver a duel
theme.
During his spare time, he enjoys running after his four young children
in the Brecon Beacons.
Toms’ surgical interests are broad due to his
extensive training in Oxford, London and Stoke Mandeville. These include:
- Skin Cancer Surgery– clinical assessment, biopsy and reconstruction, including
lymphnode surgery. - Lipoma surgery– assessment and surgery
- Cysts– assessment and surgery
- Hand Surgery– Dupuytren’s disease, Carpal tunnel, Cubital tunnel releases,
Tendon repairs, Ganglion removal - Sarcoma– assessment, MDT discussion and surgery
- Benign Skin Conditions– Assessment of a variety of benign skin conditions including
keloid scar removal, skin tags and split ear lobe. - Lymphoedema Surgery– Lymphovenular Anastomosis, liposuction and excisional techniques
- Wound Healing– assessment, management recommendations and
reconstruction
