Dr Ninan did his basic medical training in Trivandrum Medical College in Kerala, India after which he migrated to the UK. He did his surgical training on the Warwickshire Worcestershire Basic Surgical Training scheme during which he gained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His radiology training was done on the South West Peninsula training scheme which was based in the Peninsula Radiology Academy in Plymouth.
In musculoskeletal radiology he performs and interprets a wide variety of specialised and complex scans including ultrasound, CT and MRI related to orthopaedic, rheumatological, spinal and peripheral nerve diseases. He also performs a range of image guided interventions including fluoroscopy guided lumbar and cervical spine injections.
In cardiac radiology he reports cardiac CT and MRI scans.
Dr Ninan a member of the South Wales Sarcoma MDT, where in addition to being one of the radiology leads for the weekly MDT meetings, he regularly performs imaging and biopsies of soft tissue tumours.
He also regularly perform medicolegal imaging and reporting related to musculoskeletal injuries and at present is the educational and discrepancy lead for radiology for Swansea Bay University Health Board.
Dr Ninan has a keen interest in education and is a consultant trainer and educational supervisor for radiology trainees at the National Imaging Academy Wales. Here he delivers regular radiology teaching sessions and organises radiology courses.
