Mr Ngiaw Khoon Saw is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea. He is also the Clinical Governance Lead for the Urology Department at Hywel Dda and has subspecialty expertise in endourology and minimally invasive stone surgery.

Stone MDT and Metabolic Stone Clinic
Mr Saw is part of the stone multidisciplinary team at Hywel Dda University Health Board and runs the dedicated metabolic stone clinic, which investigates the underlying causes of recurrent stone formation and provides tailored advice to reduce the risk of stones recurring. His research at the University of Manchester investigated the effect of phytate and uric acid on urinary stone formation, contributing to the evidence base for metabolic management of kidney stone disease.
Training and Background
Mr Saw qualified from the University of the West Indies in 1999 and completed his basic surgical training in Manchester before undertaking higher surgical training in urology in London and Wales. He pursued a higher degree at the University of Manchester focused on urinary stone disease, developing his subspecialty expertise in endourology and stone surgery.
Teaching and Education
Mr Saw is committed to surgical education and is the urology tutor for foundation, core and GP trainees at Hywel Dda University Health Board. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Medical Education, reflecting his long-term commitment to training the next generation of doctors.
