Mr Ngiaw Khoon Saw is a consultant urological surgeon employed by Hywel Dda University Health Board. He qualified as a doctor in 1999 at The University of West Indies. Mr Saw completed his basic surgical training in Manchester and went on to higher surgical training in urology in London and Wales. Mr Saw has a special interest in urinary stone disease and pursued his studies in this field, leading to a higher degree awarded by the University of Manchester. He carried out research into kidney stone disease looking at the effect of phytate and uric acid on urinary stone formation. He is trained in all aspects of general urology with subspecialty training in endourology.
He specialises in minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of urinary stone disease. He is part of the stone multidisciplinary team and additionally runs the metabolic stone clinic in Hywel Dda. Mr Saw is the clinical governance lead of the urology department at Hywel Dda. He is a urology fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons & Physicians, Glasgow and a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons as well as the European Association of Urology.
Mr Saw enjoys teaching and is currently pursuing a Masters in Medical Education. He is the urology tutor for foundation, core and GP trainees at Hywel Dda University Health Board.
