Laser Dermatology
Dr Kamath has developed specialist expertise in laser dermatology over many years, and is the Lead Clinician for Laser Services at Princess of Wales Hospital. His laser experience includes the treatment of vascular lesions, port wine stains and other complex skin conditions, including treatment under general anaesthesia for paediatric cases.
Training and Background
Dr Kamath qualified from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore in 2000 and completed postgraduate dermatology training at Bangalore Medical College before moving to the UK in 2003. He trained further in dermatology at Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, developing expertise across all aspects of the specialty including a new field of laser dermatology. He gained his MRCP and subsequently MRCP(Derm), and was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist in 2017.
Research and Publications
Dr Kamath has published research in peer-reviewed journals including the British Journal of Dermatology, Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, Archives of Dermatology and Pediatric Dermatology. His published work covers a broad range of dermatological conditions including nail-patella syndrome, alopecia areata, occupational skin disease during COVID-19, and the use of botulinum toxin injections for notalgia paresthetica. He has presented research at national and international dermatology meetings including the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) conference. He regularly teaches GPs, medical students and dermatology trainees on topics including eczema, dermoscopy and laser procedures.
