Prof Inder Sawhney is the Clinical Director of Neurosciences in ABM University Health Board, Swansea and Honorary Professor of Neurology to Swansea University. He is an Executive Member of the Welsh Epilepsy Research Network. His other past appointments include Chair Epilepsy Working Group, ABMU Health Board and Programme Director Neurology, Welsh Deanery Cardiff. He worked as Additional Professor of Neurology at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India, before joining Morriston Hospital, Swansea as Consultant Neurologist in 1998.

He has been visiting Professor to various Medical Institutes and Examiner for DM Neurology, MD Medicine and PhD. He has edited 9 books, published 85 research papers and contributed 22 chapters to books. He has served as Assistant Editor, World Neurology and Associate Editor, Neurology India.
Prof Sawhney was trained in Neurology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. He was awarded Commonwealth Medical Fellowship in Neurology and Epilepsy in 1992-93. He had advanced training in Epilepsy and Neurology at Maudsley Hospital and King’s College Hospital, London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London and Indian Academy of Neurology.

His medico legal experience extends over 15 years and areas of expertise include whiplash, head injury, peripheral neuropathies, epilepsy and other general neurological conditions. He has attended courses on medico legal report writing, expert witness in Court and medical negligence. He has been awarded Civil Procedure Ruling Certificate by Premier and Premex as well as Certificate in Medical Reporting: Whiplash associated disorders by Capita. He prepares 60 to 70 reports per year, for claimants, defendants and under joint instruction.
