Dr Stuart Packham is a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and General Medicine at Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea, with his NHS practice at Singleton Hospital and Morriston Hospital, Swansea Bay University Health Board. Sleep Clinic

Dr Packham runs a dedicated sleep clinic specialising in the investigation and treatment of sleep-disordered breathing, including obstructive sleep apnoea. This clinic offers specialist assessment and management for patients with suspected sleep apnoea, excessive daytime sleepiness and related conditions.

Research and Guidelines

Dr Packham was a member of the British Thoracic Society group that wrote international guidelines for the investigation and treatment of chronic cough, one of the most common and distressing respiratory conditions. He held a research registrar appointment at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA, where he studied breathing and ventilation in patients with COPD, congenital hypoventilation syndrome and pre and post lung transplantation. He has published widely and presented papers at national and international meetings on various aspects of respiratory disease.

Training and Appointments

Dr Packham qualified from the University of Aberdeen and undertook postgraduate training across several centres including Aberdeen, the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and Llandough Hospital in Cardiff. He was previously a Consultant Respiratory Physician at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, before returning to Wales.
