Dr Stuart Packham has been a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and General Medicine since 1999. He works in Swansea Bay University Health Board, based in Singleton and Morriston Hospitals.

He qualified form the University of Aberdeen and undertook postgraduate training in a number of centres including in Aberdeen, Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and Llandough Hospital in Cardiff.

In addition he held an appointment as a Research registrar at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA where he studied breathing and ventilation in patients with COPD, Congenital Hypoventilation Syndrome and pre and post lung transplantation. He was previously a Consultant at the Royal Berkshire Hospital before returning to Wales and working for Swansea Bay University Health Board.

Stuart has developed a busy practice in Respiratory Medicine seeing patients with all chest conditions including Persistent Cough, Breathlessness, Recurrent Chest Infections and Bronchiectasis, Asthma and Allergy, Sleep Apnoea, and COPD (Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema).

He was a member of the British Thoracic Society panel that produced International Guidelines on the investigation and treatment of Chronic Cough, a common and distressing condition. He has published widely and presented papers at International and National meetings on various respiratory diseases and their treatment. He was previously a Consultant at the Royal Berkshire Hospital before returning to Wales.
