Dr James Barry is a heart rhythm cardiac specialist based at the Regional Cardiac Centre in Morriston Hospital Swansea, providing tertiary services for a population of one million people. Prior to his consultant appointment in 2009, Dr Barry trained at the University Hospitals in Southampton and Bristol developing a clinical expertise in invasive cardiac rhythm management (ablation) and device implantation.
Dr Barry qualified as a doctor from the University of Cambridge in 1997. Dr Barry’s current practice involves the investigation of palpitations, syncope and of risk of sudden cardiac death in high risk groups, the management of AF and its associated stroke risk, implantation of pacemakers, ICDs and biventricular pacemakers (to treat heart failure) as well as the treatment of ablatable arrhythmias.
