Mr George Eralil is a Consultant Neurosurgeon who works at HMT Sancta Maria as well as at the University Hospital of Wales where he has his NHS practice. As part of his NHS role, he undertakes emergency work in all aspects of adult and paediatric neurosurgery. He has Fellowship experience in Neurooncology and Complex Spinal Surgery.
His specialist interests lie in brain tumour surgery and surgery for many of the Facial Pain syndromes such as Trigeminal, Glossopharyngeal and Geniculate Neuralgias. Awake brain surgery for gliomas is something that is very close to his heart, and he has spent time watching and learning from Prof. Hugues Duffau – a leader in awake brain surgery for low grade glioma in Montpelier, France.
He routinely perform surgery for degenerative spinal disease of the neck and the lower back for sciatica and similar conditions.
In NHS Wales, he was the Lead for Brain and CNS Cancer. He also steers the Facial Pain Network in South and West Wales. From time to time he provides specialist advice to the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman and is an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Neurosurgery.
