Dr Linzi Thomas is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea, with her NHS practice at Swansea Bay University Health Board. She has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist in Swansea since 2000 and has specialised in gastroenterology and general medicine since 1991, giving her over 30 years of specialist experience. She is Clinical Lead for Nutrition across the Trust and holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship at Swansea University Medical School.

Training and Appointments

Dr Thomas qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1988 and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1991. She completed her gastroenterology training in Bristol, Guy’s Hospital and South Wales, gaining wide exposure to complex gastroenterological and hepatological conditions. She was awarded her MD doctorate in 2000 and has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians since that year. She was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in Swansea in 2000.

Research and Academic Roles

Dr Thomas holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship at Swansea University Medical School and has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers across gastroenterology and clinical nutrition. She is Clinical Lead for Nutrition at Swansea Bay University Health Board.
