New Physiotherapy Services at HMT Sancta Maria Hospital

We are proud to have launched a new suite of physiotherapy services for new and existing patients.

Led by Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, chartered physiotherapists, we now offer outpatient physiotherapy clinics for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

We are bringing a range of new physiotherapy treatments to patients who can either self-refer or receive a referral from their GP. All patients will receive an initial assessment and will be booked in for follow up appointments if required. The physiotherapists work with patients to alleviate a wide range of issues including joint problems, spinal problems such as sciatica and neck pain, soft tissue conditions and sports injuries.

As well as delivering outpatient physiotherapy to new patients, our physiotherapy team will be offering streamlined pre and post-operative care to patients who require their services.

Andrea Stone, our Physiotherapy Clinical Lead comments: “We are thrilled to be creating a new physiotherapy department within Sancta Maria Hospital. As a team, we are already treating patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions as well as working with patients both before and after their surgical procedures to ensure that they have the best outcome.

“We help patients to get into the best possible condition before their surgery to aid their recovery time and we also work with patients on an individual basis to assess their personal situation and home life so that we can facilitate a safe journey home after their procedures.

“Typically, we will give patients exercises to follow after their surgery to encourage good range of movement and help with strengthening muscles.”

Tim Atter, our Hospital Director comments: “We are really proud to be developing our physiotherapy offering at the hospital. As well as delivering a more seamless pre and post operative service for patients that is included within their care package, we can now also offer outpatient physiotherapy to people with muscle and joint issues. Our regular clinics have already been proving to be popular with patients and we hope to expand the service even further in the coming months.”
