HMT Sancta Maria Hospital Makes New Senior Appointment
We have appointed Helen Rees-Byrne as our new Finance and Commercial Manager. Helen joins the Senior Leadership Team at our new purpose-built facility in Swansea’s SA1.
Helen brings with her more than 20 years’ experience in accounting and finance. She was previously Head of Finance at Celtic Leisure, the not-for-profit trust that operates seven leisure facilities on behalf of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Prior to that, Helen spent 17 years with the Mid and West Wales Fire Service rising up through the ranks to become Accountancy Services Manager.
Geoff Bailey, Hospital Director at HMT Sancta Maria Hospital comments: “We are thrilled to welcome Helen to the team at our brand-new hospital. Helen’s experience within the not-for-profit sector is hugely beneficial to us as she understands the unique financial responsibilities that we face as a charitable trust. Helen has already become a valued part of our Senior Leadership Team and we look forward to what the future will bring as Sancta embarks on this next, important step in its history.”
We opened the doors to our new hospital in mid-February. The new hospital offers advanced diagnostic equipment including an MRI scanner, digital X-Ray and ultrasound suite. The patient experience is greatly improved in the new hospital with en-suite patient bedrooms, two dedicated day surgery units, on-site parking and step-free access.
Helen comments: “What an exciting time to join the team at HMT Sancta Maria Hospital. I was really attracted to the role here at such a well-established organisation with a clear vision for the future. I have worked with not-for-profits for my entire career and I’m looking forward to helping Sancta achieve its goals and objectives”
The Healthcare Management Trust, which owns and operates HMT Sancta Maria Hospital, is a charity that operates a number of healthcare facilities throughout the UK including hospitals and care homes. As a not-for-profit, its surpluses are used to support Dementia research, to provide educational grants and to fund medical research around ageing. On a local level, HMT Sancta Maria funds the Musical Memories Choir, a choir for people living with Dementia and their carers.
